YSA ACTIVITY - minute-to-win-it-relays

For this game I gave the first person on each team a spoon to fill with water.  They had to walk down to the person on the ground and put the water in the cup on the person's head.  Then run back and give the spoon to the next person.

Francis is in the purple shirt.  Everyone calls him "Chip" because they can't even say his last name.  I don't even know what his last name is.  He joined the church in his late 20's so was not able to serve a mission.  But he is a great asset to the branch where he lives.  He is the representative for the Mpummedde branch

This game is actually the "snowball" fight.  Yes I did actually spend a day making snowballs out of crunched up paper, that is when I discovered I must be getting arthritis or something.  But anyway, each team had a bucker of snowballs and the point was to try and throw them across the field into some rings hanging on the clothesline.

When hanging the rings on the clothesline got to be too hard, we had the boys help the thrower get the snowball in the ring.  All the white balls on the ground are snowballs.

This game was their favorite.  I gave them a straw and a bean.  They had to suck the bean on the end of the straw and run to the other end and deposit it into the bowl.  Eunice was passing out the beans but not fast enough for anyone to win the game.  Joseph is trying very hard to get a run on it.

The straw was quite a funny thing for them, most of them had never seen a straw

The hardest thing about the game day was getting teams together.  No one had ever heard of a relay, so they didn't really get the point

Depositing the bean on the bowl from the tip of the straw

counting beans to see which team won

This is where they were SUPPOSED to put the beans

All right, they're getting it
Denis had a great time

This game was to pass the ring around your neck to the next person without using hands

Relay to see which team could get the glass of water full the fastest by carrying it in a spoon across the field

I don't know who won - the competition on it was lost on them

But they loved it, the love to learn games they have never heard before
