THE 30TH YEAR IN A ROW ST. GEORGE MARATHON WITH FAMILY SUPPORT

October 4, 2008 - St. George, Utah

It was a cold and rainy day. Their feet were squishy and they were on the edge of hypothermia, but with an effort that required between 3 1/2 to 7 1/2 hours, they raced on down the mountain and across the finish line as their little children patiently hovered under umberellas at the park waiting for their parents to come in. All this to celebrate 30 years of Rock's Running. I was really proud of all of them. What an accomplishment! Two of our sons had significant injuries and could not participate. All in all 6 of our 8 children ran, along with 3 son-in-laws, and one daughter-in-law. and several nieces and nephews. So amazing! link to their blogs on the left side to learn more. Rock with 3 of his daughters that ran with him. (Erin didn't "lazy -out) She had left to feed her baby before picture was taken. All four of his daughters ran. Let's see, I said that above.

Jake Eggett turned twenty-something on Sept 9th. He is the dad that takes such good care of Jayma and Hallie, and the husband that takes such good care of Amber. He doesn't talk a lot unless it's about sports! He is one of our best son-in-laws.

Hunter Pierce Ballstaedt turned 10 on September 14th. He has a lot of energy when he wants to do something. He is very tender-hearted and loves action heros.

Mieka Michelle Ballstaedt turned 4 on September 19th. She is a very beautiful little girl and she likes to ask a lot of questions. She loves to dress up and be a princess.

Ryder Rock Gatten turned 2 on September 28th. He loves Thomas the Train and loves to be the baby in his family. He is a sweet little boy.

Mckay Fisher Ballstaedt has to celebrate his birthday every year in St. George celebrating the marathon. (October 4th) He turned 11 years old this year. He loves computer games and legos and action toys like Star War swords. He is very smart.

I WAS LAID OFF MY LAUNDROMAT JOB

Smith is recovering from his motorcycle accident much faster than we anticipated. While he was laid up I helped at his laundromat which added up to many hours of hard labor free of charge
(Yes, he still fired me)

My laundromat job included: counting quarters out of all the machines, trips to the bank every day, picking up the mail, mopping the floor, vacuming out all the dryer vents, polishing the windows and washers, filling up the holes in the walls, replacing light bulbs, payroll, scrubbing toilets, accounting, stripping wax off the floor on my hands and knees, folding wash, and lots of listening to whiny employees.... (Lesson to be learned here - Never cross someone's mother - they were slow learners).

Smith asked me what I will do with all my free time now.
Well, I am getting back to some of the things I like to do:
These baby quilts are gifts for some of the nieces in the family....

Some of these tomatoes are from Sage's garden...
